It is always great to find the next Microsoft, Google or Berkshire Hathaway, and if you do find one of these companies, you'll get that Cadillac you've always wanted. However, having the foresight and bravery to make large investments in companies whose business models are young and unproven will put you in the minority. Instead we offer an alternative approach.

Think Intrinsic is dedicated to finding low-risk opportunities in special situations such as spin-offs, as well as opportunities in smaller companies whose business models have already been proven.

We have over the last couple year’s watched companies double, triple and quadruple their stock price, where their business is a replication of a successful model. Perficient, an IT consulting firm has seen their stock increase from $2 to over $17 in the past 30 months, and their business is a simple replication of IBM’s consulting business.

A great opportunity that we are now watching is Peace Arch Entertainment, and you should read our research report on the company. It is a replication of the very successful Lions Gate Entertainment, they focus on low-budget and award winning films while expanding their brand, building their library, and removing as much risk as possible from their business. We can see that this business model is successful, and there is no reason that it cannot be replicated again.

Sometimes to be a successful Intrinsic Investor, you must look past the numbers, the financials and investigate the story. Determine if all the pieces are coming together: strong management team, strong business model, access to financing, and a great industry.

If you are able to look past the financials, you may finally Think Intrinsic.
